With Germany hosting the 2024 UEFA Championship the adidas design team came up with the Bern GORE-TEX® as a footwear tribute to one of the most iconic moments in German football. The "Miracle of Bern" refers to the 1954 FIFA World Cup final which saw West Germany defeat Hungary's untouchable 'Golden Team' in one of the greatest matches in history.
The adidas Bern draws inspiration from that match, with a GORE-TEX® lined upper that's a direct refernce to the rainy weather during the match. The upper itself is inspired by the adidas boots of forward Max Morlock who scored the first goal of the famed final.
